Exciting News for St. Louis County, MN!
Sambatek is proud to have assisted St. Louis County in securing a significant grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The $1.8 million Railroad Crossing Elimination (RCE) grant will enhance safety and mobility at two key railroad crossings on Midway Road near Duluth.
Project Highlights:
- Improved Safety and Mobility: The project addresses the frequent delays caused by train crossings, providing a safer and more efficient route for motorists.
- Environmental Benefits: By reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the project supports a more sustainable future.
- Freight Efficiency: Enhanced design will streamline freight movement, benefitting the regional economy and transportation network.
The project will involve planning and development activities to explore innovative solutions for grade-crossing improvements on Canadian National-owned infrastructure. Midway Road carries approximately 6,900 vehicles per day, while the railroad crossings see around 30 trains daily. This collaboration between the County, Sambatek, and other stakeholders represents a significant step toward creating a dedicated route for freight and vehicles, reducing delays and increasing efficiency.
This achievement aligns with Sambatek’s mission of delivering innovative solutions to complex challenges, and we are honored to contribute to projects that make meaningful impacts on communities.
